How do I change a streaming show to English audio or subtitles?

Answer

Wrong-language playback is usually an Audio & Subtitles setting on the title, not a broken purchase. Open Audio & Subtitles during playback and choose English audio or English subtitles.

Follow these steps

  1. Open Audio & Subtitles during playback

Start the show and select Audio & Subtitles, Language, or the speech-bubble icon in the player controls.

You should see: A list of audio tracks and subtitle options appears.

  2. Choose English audio or English subtitles

Select English for audio if listed; otherwise turn on English subtitles while keeping the available audio track.

You should see: The show plays with English sound or English subtitles.

  3. Confirm the correct account profile

If English still does not appear, verify the app is signed into the account and profile that purchased the title, then reopen the show.

You should see: The purchased language options for that account become available.

  4. Restart the app if settings will not stick

Fully close the streaming app, reopen it, and set Audio & Subtitles again.

You should see: The language selection persists through playback.

Extra tips

What to look for: An Audio & Subtitles or similar button during playback, and whether English audio is listed for that title

Before you change anything: Confirm playback is on the same account that purchased the show. Check Audio & Subtitles before requesting refunds. Note the app name, such as Prime Video, Netflix, or another storefront. Avoid third-party “subtitle installer” apps on the TV.
