Privacy notice

Last updated: July 27, 2026

This notice summarizes how ClearHelp handles information when you use the site. Questions and privacy requests about information controlled by ClearHelp can be sent to hello@getclearhelp.com.

What we collect and why

We collect information you provide, such as searches, feedback, submissions, optional contact information, and chat messages. We also collect limited technical information needed to operate the site, save chats, prevent abuse, and fix errors. Where analytics is enabled, we collect general information about your device and how you use the site (for example pages viewed and approximate location derived from IP).

We use this information to provide and improve ClearHelp, keep it secure, and meet legal obligations. We consider a submission for publication only with your consent. Where required, our legal bases are providing the service you request, our legitimate interests, legal obligations, and consent.

Chat, analytics, and storage

Chat messages and related article context are sent to a service provider to moderate the request and generate a response. Please do not include passwords, payment information, health details, or other sensitive personal information in chat.

We use essential browser storage to save chats and prevent duplicate feedback. We use Google Analytics and PostHog to measure traffic and improve ClearHelp. When analytics is enabled, PostHog session replay records page layout and interactions. Form inputs are masked and chat interfaces are excluded from recordings. In the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, analytics capture and session replay stay off until you select “Allow analytics.” Elsewhere they run by default to operate the site. You can change your choice anytime through “Cookie settings” in the footer. Choosing “Essential only” turns analytics capture and session replay off and does not limit site features.

Service providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate.

Sharing and retention

ClearHelp does not sell personal information and does not use chat messages for targeted advertising. We share information only with service providers that operate ClearHelp, when you direct us to, to protect the service, as part of a business transfer, or when required by law.

Saved chats expire after 30 days of inactivity. Security and usage records may be kept for up to 90 days. Other information is kept only as long as reasonably necessary. Deleted information may remain in encrypted backups for up to seven additional days.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information; object to or restrict some uses; withdraw consent; and appeal a denied request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. Contact hello@getclearhelp.com to make a request. You may also complain to your local privacy authority.

Children, security, and changes

ClearHelp is not directed to children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information. Minors should use troubleshooting guidance with a parent or guardian.

We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee complete security. We may update this notice as the service or law changes. Material changes will be identified by a new date and any additional notice required by law.
