How do I connect a Vizio TV to Wi‑Fi when setting up another TV?
Answer
Most Vizio SmartCast TVs fail Wi‑Fi joins because of a wrong password, 5 GHz-only network mismatch, or a router that is already full of devices. Confirm the exact on-screen error, then reconnect using the correct band and a fresh network password entry.
Follow these steps
Open Network settings and forget the old network
On the Vizio, go to Menu or Settings > Network, forget or remove the current Wi‑Fi network if listed, then scan again.
You should see: A fresh list of nearby networks appears.
Join with the correct band and password
Select your SSID, enter the password carefully, and prefer a 2.4 GHz network name if a separate 5 GHz SSID is also shown and the TV keeps failing on 5 GHz.
You should see: The TV shows Connected, or a clear incorrect-password or timeout error.
Reboot router and TV together
Unplug the router for 30 seconds, plug it back in, wait until Wi‑Fi is up, then restart the Vizio and try Network setup again.
You should see: The TV obtains an IP address and streaming apps can load.
Check router limits if a second TV was just added
In the router admin app, confirm MAC filters, guest-network isolation, or a max-device limit are not blocking the Vizio. Temporarily disable filters to test.
You should see: The TV joins once restrictions are cleared, or you confirm the block is elsewhere.

Extra tips
What to look for: Any Network connection failed or incorrect password message, and whether the TV lists your SSID at all.
Before you change anything: Confirm the Wi‑Fi password on a phone first. Note whether the network is 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or mixed. Avoid factory-resetting the TV until network steps fail.
