How do I set up a new Kindle when Simple Setup is missing in the app?

Answer

Simple Setup is optional and not always shown. Sign in to the Kindle app with your Amazon account, then enter the same Amazon email and password directly on the new Kindle to finish registration without Simple Setup.

Follow these steps

  1. Sign in on the Kindle app with Amazon

Open the Kindle app on your phone and sign in with the Amazon account you want to use on the new Kindle. This keeps your library ready even if Simple Setup is missing.

You should see: The app shows your Amazon library or store signed-in state.

  2. Connect the Kindle to Wi-Fi

On the Kindle, follow the on-screen prompts to select your Wi-Fi network and enter the Wi-Fi password.

You should see: The Kindle shows a successful Wi-Fi connection and continues to account registration.

  3. Register with Amazon on the Kindle

When prompted, enter the Amazon email and password directly on the Kindle. Skip searching further for Simple Setup in the phone app if it is not listed.

You should see: The Kindle registers to the Amazon account and finishes setup.

  4. Sync the library after registration

On the Kindle, open the home screen or library and use Sync or pull to refresh if available. In the phone app, confirm the same account is still signed in.

You should see: Purchased Kindle books begin appearing on the new device.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether the Kindle app shows a Simple Setup option, and whether the Kindle itself is asking for Wi-Fi and an Amazon account sign-in.

Before you change anything: Use the Amazon account you want as the Kindle’s library owner. Update the Kindle app from the official App Store or Play Store if you still want to look for Simple Setup. Have the Kindle charged and near Wi-Fi. Never share your Amazon password with unexpected callers.
