How do I fix an Aura digital frame that will not power on?
Answer
A black Aura frame is often in sleep mode, on a bad outlet, or stuck after a power glitch. Check the Aura app timer settings, then try a full power reset and a different wall outlet.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not open the frame housing or modify the power cable.
- Ignore unexpected popups asking for payment to unlock or repair the frame.
Follow these steps
Check sleep or timer settings in the Aura app
Open the Aura app, select the frame, and review Auto On/Off, sleep, or timer settings that may keep the display off.
You should see: You find a schedule that may be keeping the frame off, or confirm no schedule is blocking power-on.
Unplug the frame for a full power reset
Unplug the AF900 from power for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and wait a minute.
You should see: The frame shows a startup screen, photos, or at least a power indicator.
Try a different wall outlet
Plug the frame directly into a known-working wall outlet, not a surge strip or extension cord.
You should see: The frame powers on, or the outlet is ruled out as the cause.
Confirm the adapter and contact Aura support if needed
If the frame still stays black, confirm you are using the correct Aura adapter and contact Aura support through the official app or website.
You should see: You get adapter guidance, a replacement path, or further official troubleshooting.

Extra tips
What to look for: A completely black screen, whether any charging or status light appears, and Auto On/Off or sleep settings in the Aura app
Before you change anything: Confirm the frame model, such as AF900. Use the original Aura power adapter when possible. Check that the wall outlet works with another device. Do not force open the frame or cut the power cable.
