How do I connect a Nikko graphic equalizer to a Sherwood stereo receiver?

Use the receiver’s Tape Rec/Out and Tape Play/In jacks with two pairs of RCA cables: send audio from the receiver’s Tape Rec/Out to the EQ inputs, then return from the EQ outputs to the receiver’s Tape Play/In. Select your music source, then turn on Tape Monitor so you hear the equalizer in the path.

- Never connect speaker outputs to the equalizer’s RCA line inputs; that can damage equipment.
Follow these steps
Identify the four tape-loop jacks
On the Sherwood (for example RX-4105), find Tape Rec/Out left and right, and Tape Play/In left and right (sometimes labeled Tape PB). On the Nikko EQ, find the matching line input and line output jacks.
You should see: You can point to the four receiver jacks and the EQ in/out jacks you will use.
Connect receiver out to equalizer in
With power off, use one RCA pair from the Sherwood Tape Rec/Out L/R to the Nikko EQ line inputs L/R, matching red to right and white/black to left.
You should see: Audio from the receiver tape-record outputs feeds the equalizer inputs.
Connect equalizer out back to the receiver
Use the second RCA pair from the Nikko EQ line outputs L/R to the Sherwood Tape Play/In (Tape PB) L/R.
You should see: Processed audio returns into the receiver tape-play inputs.
Select the music source
Power on the gear, then on the Sherwood select the source you want to hear (tuner, CD, aux, or another line input). Do not select Tape as the only source unless that is intentional for a tape deck.
You should see: The receiver is set to the real music source feeding the tape loop.
Turn on Tape Monitor
Engage Tape Monitor on the Sherwood so the receiver listens through the tape loop where the EQ is connected. Adjust EQ sliders and confirm the tonal change is audible.
You should see: You hear the equalizer affecting the sound; turning Tape Monitor off removes that effect.
