How do I fix a Tempur-Pedic Ergo Extended base that has power but will not move?
Answer
When the base has power and the remote lights up but the bed does not move, the remote is often unpaired or the control box needs a full power reset. Unplug the base for two minutes, restore power, then re-pair the remote before assuming a motor failure.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Keep hands, pets, and bedding clear of the base while testing movement.
- Unplug the base before servicing cables or opening covers; treat the power supply as an electrical device.
Follow these steps
Power-reset the base
Unplug the bed base from wall power for a full two minutes. Leave any dual-base sync cables connected unless the manual says otherwise for your model.
You should see: All lights on the base go dark during the wait.
Restore power and test one side
Plug the base back in, wait about 30 seconds, then try a simple Head or Foot command on the remote for the side that was not working.
You should see: That side moves, or it still does not respond and pairing is needed.
Re-pair the remote
Remove the remote’s back cover, press and hold the PAIR button until the remote indicates pairing mode, then follow your Ergo base’s pairing sequence so the remote reconnects to the control box.
You should see: The remote pairs, and movement commands begin to work.
Sync dual bases if you have two sides
If you have a split or dual Ergo setup and only one side responds, use the base’s sync-two-bases process from the Tempur-Pedic Ergo manual so both sides follow the same remote.
You should see: Both sides move together, or the manual points to a remaining connection issue.
Check power and call support if still dead
Confirm the wall outlet works with another device. If the remote is paired and power is good but motors never move, contact Tempur-Pedic or the retailer for service rather than forcing the mechanism.
You should see: You either restore motion or have a clear reason to request warranty service.

Extra tips
What to look for: Power at the base, remote backlight working, any blinking lights on the base or remote, and whether one side of a dual base still moves.
Before you change anything: Confirm the model is a Tempur-Pedic Ergo Extended or similar Ergo base. Clear space so the bed can move safely when power returns. Keep fingers and cords away from the mechanism. Unplug from the wall before opening the remote battery cover if needed.
