Follow these steps
Check status menus first
Open Settings > About phone and look for SIM status, Carrier lock, or Network unlock information if your maker provides it. Also check Settings > Network & internet > SIMs.
You should see: A lock status is shown, or no clear status is available.
Test with another carrier’s SIM
Power off, insert a compatible-size SIM from a different carrier, power on, and read any Network locked or unlock PIN message.
You should see: The phone either connects to the other carrier or shows a lock message.
Retry the original SIM
Put the original SIM back to confirm the phone still works on its home network.
You should see: Home-carrier service returns, isolating the issue to cross-carrier lock.
Request an official unlock if locked
Contact the original carrier with the IMEI and ask about unlock eligibility instead of using unofficial unlock sellers.
You should see: The carrier approves an unlock or explains remaining requirements.
