Why do incoming calls on a VTech phone go straight to voicemail?

Calls that skip the handset and go straight to voicemail are usually caused by Do Not Disturb, a full or unanswered ring setting, airplane or battery issues on a cordless handset, or the phone line / base unit not ready. Check the VTech base and handset status first, then review ring and voicemail settings with your phone provider if needed.

Follow these steps
Confirm the base and handset are ready
Make sure the VTech base is powered on, the phone line or network cable is firmly connected, and each handset is charged. Lift a handset and listen for dial tone.
You should see: You hear dial tone, and the base or handset no longer shows an offline, searching, or low-battery state.
Turn off Do Not Disturb or mute settings
On the handset menu, look for Do Not Disturb, Silent, Mute, or Call Forward related options and turn them off. Also check that the ringer volume is not set to the lowest setting.
You should see: The handset shows a normal ringer status and should be able to ring on the next test call.
Test with a call from another number
Call the VTech number from a mobile phone and count how many rings occur before voicemail answers. Note whether any handset rings.
You should see: You know whether the VTech phones ring at all and how quickly voicemail picks up.
Adjust ring time or voicemail with the provider
If the handsets never ring but the line works, contact the phone or VoIP provider and ask them to lengthen the ring time before voicemail, or check whether Call Forward All or similar is enabled on the line.
You should see: Calls ring longer on the VTech phones, or the provider confirms a forwarding or voicemail setting that was answering too early.
