Why does a Jabra hearing aid case stay red and the aids not power on?
Answer
A red Jabra case light with hearing aids that only wake while plugged in usually points to a depleted case battery, poor contact in the charging wells, or aids that need a full charge cycle. Charge the case for several hours, reseat the aids, and retest while unplugged before assuming the case has failed.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Keep the case and hearing aids dry; moisture in the charging wells can cause red lights and failed charging.
Follow these steps
Give the case a full charge on power
Plug in the Jabra case with a known-good cable and leave it charging for about 3 hours without repeatedly opening it. Keep the hearing aids seated in the case during the charge.
You should see: The case light moves away from a constant red fault state, or the aids later show a ready or green indication.
Clean and reseat the hearing aids
Unplug the case only after the long charge if you need to inspect it. Gently wipe the charging contacts on the aids and in the case wells, then seat each aid firmly until it sits correctly.
You should see: Both aids sit flush in the case and make solid contact with the charging points.
Test the case while unplugged
After the full charge, unplug the case, leave the aids inside for several minutes, then remove them and check whether they power on or show green without wall power.
You should see: The aids turn on or show ready lights from the case battery alone, or the case light behavior is clearer for support.
Check the companion app and case status
If you use the Jabra app, connect and note whether it reports the aids at or near 100% and ready. Compare that with the physical case light while unplugged.
You should see: You know whether the app reports a full charge even though the unplugged case still fails to power the aids.
Contact Jabra support if red-only behavior continues
If the case still stays red and the aids only work while plugged in after a full charge and reseat, contact Jabra or the place of purchase with the model name and the light behavior you recorded.
You should see: Support can determine whether the case battery or charging circuit needs replacement or warranty service.

Extra tips
What to look for: A red case indicator, hearing aids that stay off or dark when removed, green or ready lights only while the case is plugged in, and any companion app message about charging percentage.
Before you change anything: Use the original or a known-good USB cable and power adapter. Charge in a dry place and keep metal debris out of the charging wells. Note what the case light does after a long charge while unplugged. Avoid forced resets beyond the official case reset already tried unless the manual calls for another sequence.
