How do I fix a Garmin GLS10 source not found or Panoptix disconnected error?
Answer
Power down the network, firmly reseat the transducer plug on the GLS10 and the Garmin Marine Network cable between the GLS10 and the chartplotter, then power up and select the GLS10 as the sonar source.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Work with power off when mating Marine Network and transducer connectors to avoid damaging ports.
Follow these steps
Power down the sonar network
Turn off the chartplotter and GLS10 (or switch off the house/boat breaker feeding them) before touching connectors.
You should see: Screens and the GLS10 are powered off.
Reseat the transducer on the GLS10
Unplug the Panoptix/transducer connector at the GLS10, inspect for bent pins or corrosion, then firmly reconnect until it is fully seated and locked.
You should see: The transducer plug is secure on the GLS10.
Reseat the Marine Network cable
Unplug and reconnect the Garmin Marine Network cable at both the GLS10 and the chartplotter (for example a GPSMAP 1222). Confirm you are on the network ports, not an unrelated NMEA port.
You should see: Both network ends seat firmly.
Power up and select the sonar source
Restore power, wait for the MFD to finish booting, then open the sonar/source menu and select the GLS10 / Panoptix source. Recheck for the previous error text.
You should see: Sonar returns and the source-not-found / disconnected message is gone.

Extra tips
What to look for: On-screen errors such as "GLS10 source not found" or "Panoptix transducer is disconnected," with missing sonar on a Garmin 1222 or similar display.
Before you change anything: Turn off power to the chartplotter and GLS10 before unplugging network or transducer cables. Note cable routing so waterproof connectors are fully seated and locked. Keep hands dry and avoid forcing pins.
