How do I find an iPhone that was lost while out shopping?

Use Find My on another Apple device or iCloud.com to see the phone’s location, play a sound, enable Lost Mode, and turn on Notify When Found if the phone is offline. Change the Apple ID password if you think someone else could unlock the device.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Erasing a lost iPhone removes the ability to see its location after the erase completes, so use Lost Mode first when you still hope to recover it.
- Ignore paid “phone recovery” websites or callers that ask for remote access or upfront fees.
Follow these steps
Open Find My or iCloud
On another Apple device open the Find My app, or on a computer go to iCloud.com and open Find Devices. Sign in with the Apple ID used on the missing iPhone.
You should see: You see a list of devices that includes the missing iPhone.
Check location or play a sound
Select the iPhone. If it shows a location, note nearby stores or areas. If it may be close by, use Play Sound.
You should see: You get a map location, an Offline status, or you hear the phone playing a sound.
Enable Lost Mode
Choose Mark As Lost or Lost Mode. Add a phone number where you can be reached and a short lock-screen message asking someone to call or return the phone.
You should see: The iPhone locks with your message and can still be located; payment cards may be suspended per Apple’s Lost Mode behavior.
Turn on Notify When Found if offline
If the iPhone is offline, enable Notify When Found so you receive an alert when it reconnects to a network.
You should see: Notify When Found is active and you are ready to act when the phone comes online.
Secure the Apple ID
If you believe someone else might try to use the phone, change your Apple ID password from a trusted device and review account devices in Apple ID settings.
You should see: Your Apple ID uses the new password and unknown sessions or devices can be reviewed.
