What should I do with a phone or account I still have but no longer use?

Follow these steps
Inventory signed-in accounts and subscriptions
Open Settings on the unused device and note Google, Apple, Samsung, email, and store accounts. On a computer, check bank and app-store statements for subscriptions you no longer need.
You should see: You have a short list of accounts and recurring charges still linked to the unused device.
Cancel unused paid services
Cancel subscriptions from the official app store, carrier, or vendor account pages. Confirm the next billing date shows canceled or ends after the current period.
You should see: Unused paid services are scheduled to stop charging.
Remove activation lock before giving the device away
Sign out of iCloud/Find My or Google/Samsung accounts on the device if you plan to sell, recycle, or gift it. Only then factory reset so the next owner is not blocked by your account.
You should see: The device no longer shows your account, or setup after reset does not ask for your old password.
Refuse unexpected requests for personal details
If a stranger, popup, or cold caller asks for your full name, password, or a code “to free” the unused device or account, stop. Use only official account pages you open yourself.
