How do I switch to a less expensive SiriusXM subscription plan?

Answer

Sign in to the SiriusXM Online Account Center or the SiriusXM app with the account that bills the radio, review current plan options, and switch to a cheaper package before the renewal posts. After changing plans, power-cycle the radio if some channels seem missing.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Ignore unexpected texts or calls offering SiriusXM discounts that ask for passwords or prepaid-card payment.

Follow these steps

  1. Sign in to the SiriusXM account

Open the official SiriusXM website or app and sign in with the account that pays for the radio. If you only have the radio ID (for example from the radio’s settings or a letter), use SiriusXM’s account lookup or support path for that ID.

You should see: You can see the current plan, price, and renewal date.

  2. Compare and select a lower plan

In the Online Account Center, open plan or subscription options and compare cheaper packages. Choose the lowest plan that still includes the channels you need, then confirm the change.

You should see: SiriusXM shows the new plan price and the date it takes effect.

  3. Refresh the radio after a downgrade

If channels seem missing after the switch, verify the new plan in the Online Account Center, then turn the radio fully off, wait about a minute, and power it back on. In a vehicle, also try driving to an open-sky area so the radio can update authorization.

You should see: The radio shows only the channels included in the new plan, or previously authorized channels return after the refresh.

  4. Confirm the next charge

Check the account billing section or confirmation email for the new rate and next renewal date. If the old higher price still appears, contact SiriusXM support with the account or radio ID before the charge posts.

You should see: The account lists the lower plan and the expected next bill amount.

Extra tips

What to look for: The radio ID or account number, the renewal date and price, and which channels remain after any plan change.

Before you change anything: Have the SiriusXM account email and radio ID ready. Note your renewal date so you change plans before the higher rate bills again. Understand that a cheaper plan may remove some channels. Use only the official SiriusXM site or app for plan changes.
