How do I fix a Verizon prepaid SIM that will not activate on an Android phone?
Answer
Power off, reseat the SIM, confirm Mobile data and the network mode, then make sure the number is not still active on an old phone. After that, check SIM status under About phone and restart; if Status still shows no service, the line usually needs a Verizon prepaid activation or provisioning refresh.
Follow these steps
Reseat the SIM
Turn the phone completely off. Remove the SIM tray, reseat the SIM firmly (gold contacts facing the correct way), close the tray, and power the phone back on. Wait a minute for the network icon to settle.
You should see: The phone boots with the SIM detected and either gains signal or still shows a clear no-service state.
Check mobile network settings
Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks. Turn Mobile data on. Set Network mode to LTE/CDMA or Global if those options appear, then return to the home screen and wait briefly.
You should see: Mobile data is enabled and the phone is allowed to use the correct network mode.
Shut down the old phone
If this number was just moved from another device, turn that old phone completely off so it cannot keep the line registered. Keep only the new phone powered on for several minutes.
You should see: Only the new phone is trying to register on the Verizon prepaid line.
Confirm SIM status
On the new phone, open Settings > About phone > Status (or Status information) and check that a phone number or healthy SIM status appears. Restart the phone and wait about 5 minutes after reboot.
You should see: Status shows a phone number or active SIM, or clearly shows the SIM is not provisioned.
Test voice and data
Place a short test call and open a webpage with Wi-Fi off so the phone must use mobile data. If both fail, finish activation in the official Verizon prepaid tools or contact Verizon prepaid support with your number and SIM ICCID.
You should see: Calls or data work, or you have confirmed the line still needs carrier-side activation help.

Extra tips
What to look for: SIM status under Settings > About phone > Status, Mobile data toggle, network mode options such as LTE/CDMA or Global, and whether the old phone still shows signal on the same number.
Before you change anything: Write down the phone number and the last four digits of the SIM/ICCID from the tray or packaging. Turn the previous phone fully off if you just moved the number. Use only the official Verizon prepaid app or website for activation. Do not share account PINs or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
