How do I restore phone service after non-payment shut off the line?

Answer

After a non-payment disconnect, paying the past-due balance through the carrier’s official app or website is the first step. Service can take time to return; if the phone still shows No Service after payment posts, toggle Airplane Mode and reseat the SIM while you confirm reactivation with the carrier.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Do not pay a stranger or use unofficial “restore service” links sent by text or social media.
  • Service may not return instantly after payment; avoid repeated factory resets while waiting for provisioning.

Follow these steps

  1. Pay the past-due balance officially

Sign in to your carrier’s official app or website, review the amount due, and pay the past-due balance. Keep the confirmation number.

You should see: The account shows payment received or a pending reinstatement status.

  2. Confirm the line is no longer suspended

In the account portal or with official support chat/phone, confirm that suspension for non-payment has been lifted and the line is set to restore. Ask how long reactivation usually takes after payment.

You should see: You know the account is active again or still waiting on provisioning.

  3. Refresh the phone’s network connection

After payment posts, turn Airplane Mode on for about 30 seconds, then turn it off. Wait for signal bars or carrier name to return.

You should see: Cellular service returns, or No Service remains while provisioning finishes.

  4. Reseat the SIM if No Service continues

If the phone has a physical SIM and still shows No Service after the account is active, power off, remove and reinsert the SIM, then power on. For eSIM lines, check that the cellular plan is enabled in Settings.

You should see: The phone registers on the network, or you have clear evidence the account still needs carrier-side reactivation.

Extra tips

What to look for: A No Service or SIM not provisioned status, an unpaid or suspended account balance, and whether payment has fully posted.

Before you change anything: Pay only through the carrier’s official app, website, or verified store. Save the payment confirmation number. Avoid factory resets while the account is still suspended. Never share account passwords or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
