How do I fix a Fitbit Versa 4 that will not connect to an iPhone?

Answer

Restart the Versa 4, confirm Bluetooth and the official Google/Fitbit app are ready on the iPhone, then add the watch from inside that app while signed into the correct Fitbit/Google account. Most Versa 4 pairing failures clear after a watch restart and a clean re-add in the app.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Removing the device from the wrong Fitbit/Google account can make the watch harder to claim until you sign into the original owner account.

Follow these steps

  1. Restart the Versa 4

On the Versa 4, press and hold the side button for about 10 seconds until the Fitbit logo appears, then wait until the watch finishes restarting.

You should see: The Versa 4 reboots to its normal clock face or setup screen.

  2. Prepare the iPhone for pairing

On the iPhone, turn Bluetooth on, open Settings and confirm the Fitbit or Google app has Bluetooth permission if prompted, and install any pending app update from the App Store.

You should see: Bluetooth is on and the official app is ready to search for devices.

  3. Sign in and add the Versa 4 in the app

Open the Google/Fitbit app, sign in with the account that owns the watch, then choose to add or set up a device and select Versa 4. Keep the watch near the iPhone until pairing finishes.

You should see: The app finds the Versa 4 and completes pairing without repeating the failure.

  4. Forget and re-pair if it still fails

In iPhone Settings > Bluetooth, forget any old Versa 4 entry if shown. In the Fitbit/Google app, remove the device if it is stuck half-paired, restart the iPhone once, then add the Versa 4 again.

You should see: A clean pairing session starts and the watch syncs successfully.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether the Fitbit app shows “something went wrong” or simply fails to find the Versa 4, Bluetooth being on, and which Google/Fitbit account owns the watch.

Before you change anything: Charge the Versa 4 so it will not power off mid-pairing. Know which Fitbit or Google account the watch was set up with. Keep the iPhone unlocked with Bluetooth on and the Fitbit/Google app updated. Avoid random “Fitbit fix” apps from unknown developers.
