Why is a Hume Band not charging properly?

Answer

Charging problems on a Hume Band are usually caused by a poor charger contact, a dirty charging point, or needing a longer calibration-style charge. Clean the contacts, seat the band firmly on the official charger, and allow enough uninterrupted charge time before unpairing and re-pairing.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Use only the official or manufacturer-approved charger to avoid damage.

Follow these steps

  1. Seat the band firmly on the charger

Place the Hume Band on the official charger so the contacts line up fully. Confirm a charging indicator appears, then leave it undisturbed.

You should see: The band shows it is charging, or clearly shows no connection.

  2. Clean the charging contacts

Power off if needed, then gently wipe the band’s charging contacts and the charger pads with a dry, lint-free cloth. Retry charging after cleaning.

You should see: Charging starts or the percentage begins to rise.

  3. Allow a longer uninterrupted charge

If the band reaches a high percentage such as 99% and stalls, leave it on the charger for a longer continuous session, often around 30 minutes or more, before removing it.

You should see: The battery reaches a normal full state, or it remains stuck after a long charge.

  4. Unpair and re-pair once if charge still stalls

After a full charge attempt, unpair the band in the companion app, restart the phone, then pair the band again and recheck charging behavior.

You should see: The band reconnects and reports battery status normally, or the same charging fault continues.

  5. Contact Hume support instead of opening the battery

If charging still fails, use Hume’s official support path. Do not replace the battery yourself, since Hume advises against user battery replacement.

You should see: You have an official repair, warranty, or replacement next step.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether the band shows any charging indicator, if the percentage moves within about 30 minutes, and whether the charging contacts look dirty or misaligned.

Before you change anything: Use only the official Hume charger or cable recommended for the band. Note the battery percentage and whether a charging icon appears. Avoid opening the band or replacing the battery yourself. Never share account passwords with unexpected callers.
