How do I recover data after accidentally wiping a phone?

Follow these steps
Identify the phone and account
Confirm whether the device is an Android phone or an iPhone, and write down the Google account or Apple ID email that was used before the wipe.
You should see: You know which brand and which account to check for cloud backups.
Check cloud backup first
On Android, sign in at the official Google account page and review Backup or Google One backup status. On iPhone, sign in at iCloud.com or during setup and look for an iCloud Backup from before the wipe.
You should see: You can see whether a usable cloud backup exists for that date and account.
Restore from the official backup
During phone setup or from the device backup settings, choose Restore from Google Backup or Restore from iCloud Backup and pick the most recent complete backup.
You should see: The phone begins restoring apps and data from the official backup, or clearly shows that no backup is available.
Recover individual cloud services
If a full device backup is missing, check Photos, Drive, Gmail, Notes, Contacts, and similar services signed into the same account—many items sync separately even without a full phone backup.

Stop if no backup exists
If official backups and synced apps show nothing from before the wipe, treat unpaid “forensic recovery” offers with caution. On newer encrypted phones, erased data is often permanently inaccessible.
