How do I keep my old Tracfone number instead of a new one?

Answer

Sign in to the official Tracfone account with the old number, not the new one, and ask Tracfone support to restore or port the previous number before the old number is reassigned. Restart the phone after the change and confirm the number under About phone.

Follow these steps

  1. Open the official Tracfone account

Go to tracfone.com or open the official Tracfone app and start sign-in or support for the line that should keep the old number.

You should see: You reach Tracfone’s official account or help area.

  2. Identify the old number

When asked which line to manage, enter the old phone number, not the new one, and confirm any account PIN or recent refill details Tracfone requests on its own site.

You should see: Tracfone finds the previous line or explains that the old number needs support restoration.

  3. Ask Tracfone to restore the number

Contact Tracfone support through the official chat or phone options and request that the old number be restored or transferred back to this phone/SIM.

You should see: Support confirms whether the old number can be restored and when the change will finish.

  4. Restart and verify the number

After Tracfone says the change is done, restart the phone, then open Settings > About phone and confirm the phone number matches the old one.

You should see: About phone shows the old number, or still shows the new number so you can follow up with Tracfone.

Extra tips

What to look for: The old number, the unwanted new number, the Tracfone account or SIM identifiers, and the phone number shown under About phone after a restart.

Before you change anything: Write down both the old and new phone numbers. Have the Tracfone account email, PIN, or SIM details nearby if known. Use only tracfone.com or the official Tracfone app. Do not give account codes to unexpected callers offering to “fix the number.”
