How do I recover a phone left in a Lyft driver's car?

Answer

Open the completed trip in the Lyft app under ride history and use Find lost item or Contact driver about a lost item. If the phone is an Android or iPhone you can still reach online, also enable Lost Mode or Find My Device from another device while you wait.

Follow these steps

  1. Open the trip in Lyft

In the Lyft app or website, open your ride history and select the trip where the phone was left. If a dealership or someone else booked the ride, that account must open the trip.

You should see: You are viewing the correct completed trip details.

  2. Report the lost item to the driver

Choose Find lost item or Contact driver about a lost item. Describe the phone (color, case, lock screen details) and follow Lyft's prompts to message about return.

You should see: Lyft sends the lost-item request through the official driver contact path for that trip.

  3. Secure the phone remotely if possible

From another phone or computer, open Google Find My Device or Apple Find My, locate the phone if online, and enable Lost Mode or ring/lock so strangers cannot use it.

You should see: The phone is locked or shows a lost message, or you at least see its last known location.

  4. Follow up through Lyft support if needed

If the driver does not respond in Lyft's timeframe, use Lyft Help from the signed-in account for that trip and reference the lost-item report rather than contacting random numbers.

You should see: You have an official Lyft support path tied to the trip if the driver contact option fails.

Extra tips

What to look for: The completed Lyft trip in Ride history, and options labeled Find lost item or Contact driver about a lost item.

Before you change anything: Use the same Lyft account that took the trip, or ask the person who booked it to open that trip. Have trip date, pickup/dropoff, and phone description ready. Secure the phone with Find My or Lost Mode if you can still access the account. Never share passwords or unlock codes with unexpected callers claiming to have the phone.
