How do I find a lost iPhone when I do not have another phone?
Answer
Use any computer or tablet browser to open iCloud.com/find, sign in with the Apple ID used on the lost iPhone, select that iPhone, and turn on Lost Mode. You do not need a second iPhone if you can reach iCloud on the web.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Erasing the iPhone removes data from the device and can stop Find My location updates after the erase finishes.
Follow these steps
Open Find My on the web
On a computer or tablet, open a browser and go to icloud.com/find (or icloud.com and open Find Devices / Find My iPhone).
You should see: You see the Apple ID sign-in page for iCloud.
Sign in with the Apple ID from the lost iPhone
Sign in with the same Apple ID and password used on the lost iPhone. Complete two-factor authentication using a trusted device or phone number if Apple prompts for it.
You should see: Find My opens and lists devices on that Apple ID.
Select the lost iPhone
Choose the lost iPhone from the device list. Check whether it appears online with a map location or shows Offline with the last known location.
You should see: You see the iPhone’s current or last known location status.
Turn on Lost Mode
Select Lost Mode (or Mark As Lost). Add a phone number where you can be reached and a short lock-screen message, then confirm. Optionally play a sound if the phone might be nearby.
You should see: Lost Mode is active, the iPhone locks with your message, and location continues to update when it is online.
Secure the Apple ID and decide on Erase later
Change the Apple ID password if you think someone else could unlock the phone. Use Erase This Device only if you are sure the phone cannot be recovered and you accept that location tracking will stop after erase completes.
You should see: The account is secured, and you have either left Lost Mode on for recovery or started erase as a last resort.

Extra tips
What to look for: The lost iPhone listed in Find My on iCloud.com, with options such as Play Sound, Lost Mode, or Erase iPhone.
Before you change anything: Use a trusted computer or borrow one only long enough to sign in at icloud.com. Have the Apple ID email and password for the lost iPhone. Prefer Lost Mode before Erase if you still hope to recover the device. Never share your Apple ID password or verification codes with unexpected callers.
