How do I fix thin horizontal lines on a Samsung LCD TV?

Answer

Horizontal lines in a fixed band often point to a panel or internal board issue, but a power cycle and input check are still worth trying first. If the lines remain on every input and on the TV menu itself, the display hardware usually needs service.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Do not open the TV power board yourself because of shock hazard.

Follow these steps

  1. Power-cycle the TV

Turn the TV off, unplug it from power for 1 to 2 minutes, then plug it back in and power on.

You should see: Lines disappear temporarily or remain unchanged.

  2. Check the TV menu and multiple inputs

Open the Samsung menu or settings screen, then also test another HDMI device or a built-in app.

You should see: You learn whether the lines are on all sources including the TV UI.

  3. Reseat HDMI only if lines are source-specific

If lines appear on one device only, reseat or replace that HDMI cable and retry. If lines are on the menu too, skip cable swaps.

You should see: A bad cable/source is fixed, or hardware failure is confirmed.

  4. Plan panel service if lines are universal

For lines that stay on every input and the menu, contact Samsung support or a TV repair shop with the model number from the sticker. Wall-mount access may be needed for service.

You should see: You get a repair quote or replacement guidance.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether lines appear over the TV’s own menus and smart apps, not only on one HDMI device.

Before you change anything: Note whether the TV is wall-mounted and hard to access from behind. Try a simple power cycle before arranging service. Avoid pressing hard on the LCD panel.
