How do I get TVNZ+ working again on a Samsung Smart TV?

Answer

Force a full power restart, update Samsung TV software, then update or reinstall TVNZ+. That sequence usually clears Platform not initialized and similar launch failures.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Factory resetting the Samsung TV removes apps and signed-in accounts.

Follow these steps

  1. Unplug power for one minute

Turn the TV off at the wall or unplug it for about 60 seconds, then restore power and reopen TVNZ+.

You should see: The TV restarts fully and the app either loads or fails more clearly.

  2. Update TV software

Go to Settings > Support > Software Update and install any available Samsung update, then restart if prompted.

You should see: The TV is current or a new update finishes successfully.

  3. Update or reinstall TVNZ+

In the Samsung apps list, update TVNZ+ if offered. If it still fails, delete the app, reinstall from the official store, and sign in.

You should see: TVNZ+ opens to browse or play content.

Extra tips

What to look for: Platform not initialized, endless loading, or an immediate return to the Smart Hub when opening TVNZ+.

Before you change anything: Confirm the TV is online with another app or the browser. Keep the TV plugged into a working outlet during updates. Be ready to sign in to TVNZ+ again after reinstalling. Avoid a full TV reset unless these steps fail.
