What does system is filling mean on a Jura coffee machine?

Answer

System is filling usually means the machine is priming the water circuit. Refill and firmly reseat the water tank, run hot water from the menu, and temporarily remove a clogged water filter if priming never finishes.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Hot water and steam can cause burns—keep hands clear of the spout.

Follow these steps

  1. Refill and reseat the water tank

Remove the water tank, empty it, refill it fully with fresh water, and press it firmly back into place until it seats completely.

You should see: The machine recognizes the tank and may continue priming.

  2. Run hot water to finish priming

From the J8 or similar menu, select hot water and start dispensing into a cup. Let it run until flow is steady.

You should see: Water flows and the system is filling message clears.

  3. Test without the water filter

If priming still stalls, remove the water filter from the tank if one is installed, refill, reseat the tank, and try hot water again.

You should see: Flow resumes, pointing to a clogged filter or airlock.

  4. Check the tank float and retry coffee

Confirm the float in the tank moves freely, reseat the tank, then brew a small coffee. If system is filling returns with no flow, contact Jura support for service.

You should see: Coffee brews normally, or you have a clear hardware-service case.

Extra tips

What to look for: A system is filling message with no coffee output and no additional error codes

Before you change anything: Use fresh water in the tank. Place a cup under the spout before running hot water. Note your exact Jura model from the machine label. Do not put descaler in the tank unless you are running a descaling program.
