You should see: The patterns match and the lock is saved.
Clean the screen and remove bulky protectors
Wipe the display and retry; if a thick matte protector interferes, try again without it.
You should see: Touches register evenly across the dot grid.
Switch to PIN or password
If pattern keeps failing, choose PIN or password for now so you can finish setup and use the phone.
You should see: Setup completes with a working non-pattern lock.
Retry pattern later after updates
After finishing setup, install system updates, then try changing the lock type back to pattern in Security settings.
