Why are Amazon Alexa devices suddenly offline?

Restart your router and one Echo at a time, then update the Wi-Fi for that device in the Alexa app. If it stays offline, put the Echo into setup mode and rejoin the 2.4 GHz network.

- Do not share your Amazon password with unexpected callers offering Alexa repair.
Follow these steps
Restart router and one Echo
Unplug the Echo for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Also restart the router/modem, then wait two minutes.
You should see: The Echo comes online, or still shows offline with a clear light pattern.
Change Wi-Fi in the Alexa app
Open Alexa app > Devices, select the Echo, open the gear, choose Change next to Wi-Fi Network, and rejoin your network.
You should see: The device status changes from Offline to Online.
Use setup mode if needed
Unplug the Echo 30 seconds, plug it in, then press and hold the Action button 15–20 seconds until the light ring turns orange. Finish setup in the Alexa app.
You should see: The orange ring appears and the app can add the speaker to Wi-Fi again.
Repeat for remaining devices
Once one Echo works, update Wi-Fi or rerun setup on the other offline speakers.
You should see: All Alexa devices return online.

Extra tips
What to look for: Multiple Echo devices show Offline in the Alexa app, or lights indicate they cannot reach Wi-Fi.
