How can I remove ads from Netflix or another ad-supported streaming plan?

Answer

On Netflix and similar services, ads on an ad-supported plan usually cannot be skipped. To remove them, change to an ad-free plan in the official account settings, or confirm you are watching on the service that already has an ad-free subscription.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Third-party ad blockers or unofficial modified apps can violate the service terms and may be unsafe.

Follow these steps

  1. Confirm which app is showing ads

Note whether the ads are inside Netflix, Hulu, or another streaming app, and which profile or device you are using.

You should see: You know exactly which service needs an ad-free plan change.

  2. Check the current membership plan

Open the official account or membership page and look for wording such as ad-supported, with ads, or ad-free.

You should see: You can see whether the current plan includes ads by design.

  3. Change to an ad-free plan if available

If the service offers an ad-free tier, follow the official plan-change steps and confirm the new plan before the next billing cycle when required.

You should see: The membership page shows an ad-free plan, or the service explains when the change takes effect.

  4. Restart the app and test playback

Fully close the streaming app, reopen it, and play a title that previously showed ads.

You should see: Ads no longer appear after the plan change takes effect, or the app still shows ads until the plan update finishes.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether the membership page says ad-supported, Standard with ads, or a similar plan name.

Before you change anything: Sign in on the official Netflix website or app before changing plans. Note your current plan name and next billing date. Confirm which service is showing the ads—Netflix, Hulu, or another app. Do not buy third-party “ad remover” tools or share account codes with unexpected callers.
