How do I move a SiriusXM subscription to a newly purchased vehicle?
Answer
Sign in to your SiriusXM account (or use account lookup with your phone or email), add the new vehicle’s radio ID, and transfer or activate service on that radio. In many cars you can find the radio ID by tuning to SiriusXM channel 0. Keep the old vehicle’s service canceled or transferred so you are not billed twice.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Be careful with unsolicited “SiriusXM renewal” calls; use official account channels and do not give payment details to unexpected callers.
Follow these steps
Find the new vehicle’s radio ID
Start the vehicle, turn the audio system on, and choose SiriusXM as the source. Tune to channel 0 and write down the Radio ID shown. If channel 0 is unavailable, check the radio’s Settings/System info menus or a SiriusXM sticker in the glove box or on the radio chassis.
You should see: You have the new radio’s SiriusXM ID recorded exactly.
Sign in or look up the SiriusXM account
On a phone or computer, open the official SiriusXM account site or app. Sign in, or use account lookup with the phone number or email on the subscription to create/access the online account if you have not used it before.
You should see: You can see the current subscription and vehicle/radio details.
Transfer or activate on the new radio
Choose the option to transfer service, change vehicle, or activate a radio, then enter the new Radio ID. Follow the prompts to move the plan from the old vehicle. Confirm whether the old radio should be deactivated.
You should see: The account shows the new vehicle/radio as active on the subscription.
Refresh the radio in the new vehicle
With a clear view of the sky if possible, leave SiriusXM on for several minutes. Cycle ignition if the system still shows a trial expired or subscription update message. Then test a few channels.
You should see: Channels that are part of your plan play in the new vehicle.
Contact SiriusXM if the transfer fails
If the online transfer cannot find the radio ID or service does not start, contact SiriusXM support with both the old and new radio IDs and the account phone/email. Ask them to move the existing subscription rather than selling a duplicate plan you do not want.
You should see: Support completes the transfer or explains any trial/plan conflict blocking the move.

Extra tips
What to look for: SiriusXM radio ID (often 8–12 characters), channel 0 display, account email/phone on the subscription, and whether the new vehicle still has a trial that must be converted or transferred.
Before you change anything: Have the account phone number or email ready. Write down the new vehicle’s radio ID before calling or chatting with support. Do not share account passwords with unexpected callers offering “free transfer” deals.
