How do I renew a SiriusXM subscription for a car radio that shows subscription updated?

Answer

Find the Radio ID on the SiriusXM radio (often by tuning to channel 0), renew or reactivate that exact ID on your existing SiriusXM account, then leave the vehicle on SiriusXM with a clear view of the sky for about 10–15 minutes so the subscription can refresh.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Do not share SiriusXM account passwords or payment details with unexpected callers or unofficial sites.

Follow these steps

  1. Find this vehicle’s Radio ID

Turn the vehicle on, switch the audio source to SiriusXM, and tune to channel 0 (or open the radio’s SiriusXM settings) to display the Radio ID. Write it down exactly.

You should see: You have the Radio ID for the radio currently in this car.

  2. Confirm the ID on your SiriusXM account

Sign in to the official SiriusXM account site or app and check that the Radio ID listed matches the one from this vehicle. Remove or ignore old vehicle IDs if they differ.

You should see: The subscription is tied to the correct Radio ID for this car.

  3. Renew or reactivate with that Radio ID

Complete renewal or reactivation for the existing subscription using the Radio ID you wrote down. Prefer renewing the current account over starting a new trial on a different ID.

You should see: SiriusXM shows the subscription as active for that Radio ID.

  4. Refresh the radio outdoors

Park with a clear view of the sky, leave the radio on SiriusXM (not Bluetooth or another source), and wait about 10–15 minutes for channels to unlock.

You should see: Channels begin playing, or channel 1 shows subscription updated and then resumes service.

  5. Recheck if service stays locked

If nothing changes, reopen the account and verify the active Radio ID still matches channel 0 in this vehicle, then repeat the outdoor refresh once more.

You should see: You either restore audio or identify a mismatched Radio ID still on the account.

Extra tips

What to look for: The Radio ID on channel 0, a subscription updated message, and whether the ID on the account matches this vehicle’s radio—not an old car.

Before you change anything: Write down the Radio ID from this vehicle before renewing. Use only the official SiriusXM website or app for payment and activation. Confirm you are renewing the existing account for this Radio ID, not creating a duplicate trial on the wrong ID. Never share account passwords or payment codes with unexpected callers.
