How do I fix a Samsung TV that is pixelating or shows No Signal?

Answer

This usually points to a handshake problem between the TV, HDMI input, and the set-top receiver—not a broken Samsung panel alone. Power-cycling the TV and receiver, then the modem/gateway in the right order, often clears pixelation and No Signal.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Unplug equipment by the power cord; do not force connectors or open the TV chassis.

Follow these steps

  1. Power-cycle the Samsung TV

Turn the TV off, unplug it from the wall for a full 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on to the same HDMI input used for the receiver.

You should see: The TV starts cleanly and either shows a picture again or a clearer No Signal / input message.

  2. Restart the TV receiver

On the U-verse or cable TV receiver, hold the POWER button for about 10 seconds to force a reboot, then wait while it restarts.

You should see: The receiver reboots; the screen may show a startup logo, go blank briefly, then return to live TV.

  3. Allow a full receiver boot

Leave the receiver alone for several minutes (often about 5 to 8 minutes for some U-verse receivers) until startup finishes, even if the TV goes blank mid-boot.

You should see: Live TV returns without constant pixelation, or a stable error message remains that you can report to the provider.

  4. Restart the gateway, then the TV path

Unplug the AT&T gateway or modem and the main TV receiver for 60 seconds. Plug the gateway back in first and wait until broadband/service lights are stable, then power the receiver and check the Samsung TV.

You should see: Service lights stabilize and the TV picture improves, or No Signal clears on the correct HDMI input.

  5. Reseat HDMI and confirm input

With power on, reseat the HDMI cable at both ends, try another HDMI port on the Samsung TV, and confirm the TV source matches the receiver.

You should see: A solid handshake restores a clear picture, or the problem clearly stays with one cable or port.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether the screen shows No Signal, a specific error code, pixelation on live TV only, or a blank/frozen picture during receiver startup.

Before you change anything: Note which HDMI input and source the TV is on. Confirm whether pixelation happens on every input or only through the cable/U-verse box. Avoid buying third-party unlock tools or paying unexpected repair fees from popups. Do not factory-reset the TV until power and cable checks fail.
