How do I fix an Amazon Prime Video subscription or channel billing issue?

Answer

Sign in at Amazon’s official site or app, open Account > Memberships and subscriptions (or Prime Video Channels), and manage, cancel, or update payment there. If a channel such as Peacock is billed through Amazon, Amazon—not the channel’s separate site—is usually where you change it.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Ignore pop-up callers or chat ads claiming to be Amazon support and asking for codes.

Follow these steps

  1. Open Memberships and subscriptions

Sign in to Amazon on a phone or browser and go to Account > Memberships and subscriptions (or Prime Video Channels).

You should see: You see Prime and any Video Channels with their billing status.

  2. Fix payment or membership status

Update the payment method, resolve a declined card, or renew/reactivate the membership or channel that shows as unpaid or cancelled.

You should see: Amazon shows the membership as active.

  3. Confirm who bills an add-on channel

If the problem is a channel such as Peacock, check whether it is billed by Amazon Channels or by the channel directly, then manage it at that billing source.

You should see: You change the plan in the correct place.

  4. Refresh the streaming device

Sign out and back into Prime Video on the TV/app, or restart the device, then play a title to confirm access.

You should see: Videos play, or Amazon shows a clearer remaining account error.

Extra tips

What to look for: Membership status, payment failure notices, and whether a channel is listed under Prime Video Channels

Before you change anything: Use Amazon’s official app or amazon.com only. Know which email owns the Amazon account that pays for Prime Video. Check bank statements for Amazon or Prime Video channel charges. Do not share account passwords with unexpected callers.
