How do I find an iPhone left in an Uber?

Use Find My on another Apple device or iCloud.com to mark the iPhone as lost and see its last known location, then contact the driver through the Uber app’s Lost Item tools.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not share Apple passwords, recovery keys, or one-time codes with anyone who claims they found your phone.
- Erasing the iPhone remotely removes Find My tracking for that device until it is restored and signed in again.
- Only use the Uber app or Uber’s official support channels for the trip; avoid third-party “phone recovery” services that ask for payment up front.
Follow these steps
Mark the iPhone as lost in Find My
On another Apple device open the Find My app, or on a computer go to iCloud.com and open Find Devices. Select the missing iPhone and turn on Lost Mode so the screen shows a lock and a contact number you can be reached at.
You should see: The iPhone is locked remotely and, if online, shows a last known location on the map.
Contact the driver through Uber
Open the Uber app, find the completed trip, and use Help or Lost Item to message the driver. Share that the phone is in Lost Mode and, if Find My shows a location, the general area where it last appeared.
You should see: You have an in-app message thread with the driver about returning the phone.
Escalate to Uber support if needed
If the driver does not respond within a reasonable time, continue through Uber’s Lost Item support path for that trip so Uber can try contacting the driver on your behalf.
You should see: Uber support confirms they are following up on the lost item for that trip.
Keep location and notifications on
Leave Lost Mode on and watch Find My for updates. Do not erase the device unless you decide recovery is no longer possible.
You should see: You still receive location or sound updates if the phone comes back online.
