Why won’t Safari, Chrome, or Firefox load websites on iPhone Wi‑Fi?
Answer
When every browser fails but Wi‑Fi shows connected, the network is often blocked by a sign‑in page, DNS problem, or limited access—not a broken browser. Open a simple site like example.com, complete any captive portal login if it appears, then try Cellular Data or a personal hotspot to confirm whether the flat Wi‑Fi is the issue.
Follow these steps
Test with cellular data
Turn off Wi‑Fi, turn on Cellular Data, and try opening a simple website in Safari. This shows whether the phone itself can reach the internet.
You should see: Pages load on cellular, or they fail too—telling you if the problem is the flat Wi‑Fi or the phone.
Complete any network sign‑in page
Turn Wi‑Fi back on, open Safari, and visit a plain http site. If a hotel/apartment login, terms, or “Sign in to network” page appears, complete it with the host’s details—not your Apple ID password unless the page is clearly Apple’s.
You should see: The captive portal finishes and normal websites begin to load.
Forget and rejoin the Wi‑Fi
Go to Settings > Wi‑Fi, tap the info icon next to the network, choose Forget This Network, then reconnect and enter the password again.
You should see: The phone gets a fresh IP address and browsers can load pages, or you see a clearer error.
Compare with another hotspot
If the flat Wi‑Fi still fails, join a personal hotspot from another phone or a different known‑good network and retry the same sites.
You should see: Browsers work on the other network, confirming the original Wi‑Fi needs router or ISP help.

Extra tips
What to look for: Wi‑Fi connected with no internet, a captive portal or “Sign in to network” page, spinning tabs with no error, and whether Cellular Data works for the same sites.
Before you change anything: Note whether all browsers fail or only one. Check Control Center for Wi‑Fi and Cellular Data status. Avoid entering account passwords on unexpected popups that are not the network login page. Do not reset the phone until you have tested another connection.
