Follow these steps
Recover the Apple ID password
On a computer or another phone, go to iforgot.apple.com, enter the Apple ID used on the lost iPhone, and follow Apple’s official reset steps with a trusted phone number, recovery key, or other method you still control.
You should see: You set a new Apple ID password and can sign in to iCloud.
Sign in to Find My on the web
Open iCloud.com/find (or the Find My app on another Apple device) and sign in with the recovered Apple ID.
You should see: The lost iPhone appears in your devices list, online or offline.
Enable Lost Mode
Select the lost iPhone, choose Mark As Lost / Lost Mode, lock the device with a passcode if prompted, and add a phone number or message for an honest finder.
You should see: The iPhone is locked to your Apple ID and shows your lost message if it comes online.
Erase the iPhone if you need to wipe data
If you will not recover the phone or need to remove personal data immediately, choose Erase This Device in Find My. After erase, Activation Lock can still prevent reuse without your Apple ID.

Change related passwords
After the device is in Lost Mode or erased, change passwords for important accounts that may have been signed in on the iPhone, starting with email and banking apps.
