How do I fix a NordicTrack treadmill that shows Retry on the iFIT screen?

Answer

A Retry screen on a NordicTrack iFIT console is often cleared with a full power cycle, then a guided console recovery or reset if the message returns. Unplug the treadmill for a full minute, power it back on, and only then attempt the recovery reset and wait if the screen says to wait.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Do not unplug the treadmill while a recovery screen is actively updating unless the official instructions say to stop.
  • Do not share account passwords or payment details with unexpected callers offering to “unlock” iFIT remotely.

Follow these steps

  1. Power-cycle the treadmill

Turn the treadmill off with the power switch, unplug it for 60 seconds, plug it back in, and power it on again.

You should see: The console boots normally, or Retry appears again in a consistent way.

  2. Start the console recovery

With the treadmill powered off, press and hold the recovery or reset button used for your console model, then turn power back on while still holding the button.

You should see: A recovery or reset screen appears instead of the normal iFIT home screen.

  3. Wait through recovery

When the recovery or reset screen appears, leave the treadmill powered on and wait up to about 30 minutes if the display says to wait.

You should see: The console finishes recovery and returns to the iFIT interface, or it shows a clearer failure message.

  4. Repeat the reset once if needed

If Retry still appears after a full wait, turn the treadmill off with the power switch and repeat the same hold-while-powering-on recovery sequence one more time.

You should see: Retry clears after the second recovery attempt, or the problem remains and needs official NordicTrack or iFIT support.

  5. Recheck network only after boot succeeds

Once the console loads past Retry, connect to Wi-Fi from the iFIT settings and confirm the network stays connected.

You should see: Wi-Fi connects successfully, or a separate network error appears that can be troubleshot on its own.

Extra tips

What to look for: The exact Retry message on the iFIT console at startup, whether Wi-Fi settings are reachable at all, and any recovery or reset prompts that ask you to wait.

Before you change anything: Note whether Retry appears immediately at power-on or only after signing into iFIT. Keep the treadmill plugged into a known-good outlet. Do not unplug the machine in the middle of a recovery wait screen unless instructed. Avoid unofficial firmware files from random websites.
