How do I restore audio on a NordicTrack treadmill after a failed update?

Answer

Do a full power reset: turn the treadmill off, unplug it for five minutes, then plug it back in and recheck volume and Bluetooth or speaker settings. If audio is still missing, check for a pending console software update in the iFIT or console settings.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Unplug the treadmill before inspecting cables; internal parts can present electrical and pinch hazards.

Follow these steps

  1. Full power reset

Turn the treadmill off with the power switch, unplug it from the wall for five full minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.

You should see: The console reboots cleanly.

  2. Check volume and output

Raise console volume, confirm mute is off, and test built-in speakers versus Bluetooth headphones if you use them.

You should see: Sound returns, or only one output path works.

  3. Recheck software updates

In the console or iFIT settings, look for a pending update and let it finish on stable Wi-Fi without interrupting power.

You should see: The update completes or reports a clear error.

  4. Test a local workout

Start a simple workout or demo audio to confirm speakers respond before a long guided run.

You should see: Audio plays normally through the session start.

Extra tips

What to look for: No sound from workouts or speakers, recent update failure messages, and whether headphones or Bluetooth audio still work.

Before you change anything: Safety-key the treadmill and keep children away while it is powered. Note your Wi-Fi login if an update will rerun. Do not open the motor hood unless the manual directs service steps. Unplug from the wall before any cable checks.
