How do I activate a new Straight Talk iPhone bought at Walmart?

Answer

Straight Talk iPhone activation usually needs the correct Straight Talk account login (or activation PIN) plus a finished SIM/eSIM activation—not an Apple ID password alone. If a password is rejected, confirm which account the screen is asking for, reset that account on the official Straight Talk site, then retry activation.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Stop if a popup asks you to pay an extra unlock fee or install unknown software to activate the phone.

Follow these steps

  1. Identify which password the screen wants

Read the activation or sign-in screen carefully. Apple ID, Wi-Fi, and Straight Talk account passwords are different. Only enter an Apple ID password on Apple’s own sign-in screen; use Straight Talk credentials on Straight Talk activation.

You should see: You know which account is rejecting the password.

  2. Start official Straight Talk activation

On Wi-Fi, open the official Straight Talk activation site or app, choose activate for a new phone, and enter the SIM/ICCID or eSIM details from the kit plus the iPhone IMEI if asked.

You should see: Activation continues to plan or number selection instead of looping on a wrong password.

  3. Recover the Straight Talk account password if needed

If Straight Talk sign-in fails, use Forgot password only on the official Straight Talk website, set a new password, wait a few minutes, then sign in again. Avoid third-party unlock sites.

You should see: You can sign in to Straight Talk with the new password.

  4. Finish SIM/eSIM setup on the iPhone

Install or insert the Straight Talk SIM/eSIM as instructed, restart the iPhone, and confirm Settings > Cellular shows the Straight Talk line as on.

You should see: The Straight Talk line appears and signal or activation status updates.

  5. Test calling after activation completes

When Straight Talk shows the line as active, try a phone call and text. If activation succeeded but calls still fail, contact Straight Talk support with the IMEI and activation confirmation rather than repeatedly changing passwords.

You should see: Calls and texts work, or support can see a provisioning issue on the line.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether the rejected password is for Straight Talk, Apple ID, or Wi-Fi; any "unacceptable" or password error on the activation screen; and whether the SIM status shows active

Before you change anything: Have the Straight Talk SIM pack, IMEI, and purchase details ready. Know which email belongs to the Straight Talk account versus the Apple ID. Use only official Straight Talk activation pages or the carrier app. Never share passwords or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
