How do I fix text messages failing to send on Visible after changing cellular settings?

Answer

On Visible, failed texts after tapping cellular controls are often a line or data setting issue. Confirm Cellular Data is on for the Primary line, turn on iMessage and Send as SMS, then reset network settings if messages still fail. Rejoin Wi-Fi afterward and test with a plain SMS.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Reset Network Settings erases saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords, VPN, and cellular settings.

Follow these steps

  1. Check the Primary cellular line

Go to Settings > Cellular and tap the line labeled Primary. Confirm the line is turned on and Cellular Data is enabled for the Visible line you use for texts.

You should see: Primary/Visible shows cellular data available and the line is not disabled.

  2. Turn cellular data on

In Settings > Cellular, make sure Cellular Data is on. If there are multiple lines, set Cellular Data to the Visible line that should send messages.

You should see: The status bar can show cellular signal or LTE/5G when Wi-Fi is off.

  3. Enable iMessage and Send as SMS

Go to Settings > Messages. Turn on iMessage and turn on Send as SMS so messages can fall back to standard text when iMessage is unavailable.

You should see: Both iMessage and Send as SMS show as enabled.

  4. Test with Wi-Fi off briefly

Turn off Wi-Fi, open Messages, and send a short text to a known number to see whether Visible cellular can deliver SMS.

You should see: The message sends over cellular, or it still fails with the same error.

  5. Reset network settings if texts still fail

Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings, confirm, and let the iPhone restart. Re-enter Wi-Fi passwords afterward.

You should see: Network settings return to defaults and you can rejoin Wi-Fi.

  6. Update iOS and retest

Go to Settings > General > Software Update and install any available update, then send another test SMS and an iMessage if contacts support it.

You should see: Messages send normally on Visible, or the failure remains and Visible support is the next step.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether Cellular Data is on, which line is labeled Primary under Cellular, whether iMessage and Send as SMS are enabled, and any red “Not Delivered” errors in Messages.

Before you change anything: Know that Reset Network Settings will remove saved Wi-Fi passwords. Confirm you are using Visible on an iPhone. Have your Visible account sign-in available if the line needs reactivation. Never share account passwords or codes with unexpected callers.
