How do I move an AT&T Prepaid refill applied to the wrong number?

Answer

If the old AT&T Prepaid number is already inactive, the refill usually cannot be moved automatically. Contact AT&T Prepaid support with both numbers and the refill receipt; they may issue a courtesy transfer or credit while the funds remain unused.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Only use AT&T’s official support channels—avoid third parties asking for PIN codes.

Follow these steps

  1. Confirm where the refill landed

Check the refill confirmation for the exact phone number and amount.

You should see: You can show support which number received the $45.

  2. Check if the old line is active

Try signing in to AT&T Prepaid account tools for the old number or ask support whether it is still active.

You should see: You know whether a balance transfer is even possible.

  3. Request a transfer or credit

Contact AT&T Prepaid support with both numbers and the receipt and ask to move unused funds to the correct line.

You should see: Support transfers the balance, issues a credit, or explains why it cannot.

  4. Refill the correct number if needed

If funds cannot move, refill the active number directly and ask whether any goodwill credit is available for the mistake.

You should see: The correct line has service days or balance again.
