Why isn't my Airalo eSIM providing mobile data?
Answer
An Airalo eSIM that shows as installed but will not provide data usually needs the Airalo line turned on for mobile data, with the correct APN and data roaming enabled. Checking those network settings after leaving Wi-Fi is the usual fix.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Deleting the eSIM to start over can consume or complicate a package that was already activated, so follow Airalo's guidance before removing it.
Follow these steps
Confirm the Airalo eSIM is installed and turned on
Open the phone's SIM or Cellular settings and make sure the Airalo eSIM is present and enabled. In the Airalo app, confirm the package status is active rather than waiting to install.
You should see: Airalo appears as an on/enabled line and the package is ready for use.
Select Airalo for mobile data
In Cellular or Mobile Network settings, set Mobile Data to the Airalo eSIM. Leave your primary number for calls and texts if you want, but data must point to Airalo while you use the travel package.
You should see: The phone shows Airalo as the line providing mobile data.
Turn on data roaming for the Airalo line
Open the Airalo eSIM's network settings and enable Data Roaming. Then turn Wi-Fi off and wait up to a minute for a cellular data icon to appear.
You should see: The phone connects to a partner network and mobile data works without Wi-Fi.
Enter the APN from the Airalo app if required
Open the package details in the Airalo app. If an APN is listed, enter it exactly under the Airalo eSIM's mobile network or APN settings, then reopen a browser page with Wi-Fi off.
You should see: Data sessions start using the Airalo APN and websites load off Wi-Fi.
Restart and contact Airalo if data still fails
Restart the phone, keep Wi-Fi off, and test again. If the eSIM is active but still has no data in a covered area, use Airalo's official in-app support with your package details.
You should see: Either data starts after the restart, or Airalo support can check provisioning for that eSIM.

Extra tips
What to look for: Whether the Airalo eSIM shows as active in Mobile Network or SIM settings, which line is selected for mobile data, and any APN details shown in the Airalo app.
Before you change anything: Confirm the Airalo package is marked active or installed in the Airalo app. Know whether the phone is iPhone or Android and where dual-SIM data is selected. Turn off Wi-Fi when testing so you can see true cellular data behavior. Do not share Airalo login codes or QR install details with unexpected callers.
