How do I stop a ProForm 795 treadmill belt from slipping?
Answer
Unplug the treadmill, tighten both rear roller bolts equally by about a quarter turn, then retest at a slow walk. Small equal adjustments usually stop light slipping; large overtightening can damage the belt and motor.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Always unplug the treadmill before adjusting rollers or removing covers.
- Overtightening the walking belt can damage the motor and deck.
Follow these steps
Unplug and inspect the belt
Unplug the treadmill and look along the walking belt for tears, glazing, or heavy drift to one side.
You should see: You know whether a simple tension adjustment is reasonable.
Tighten both rear roller bolts equally
Using the hex key that came with the treadmill, turn each rear roller bolt clockwise about 1/4 turn, keeping both sides equal.
You should see: Belt tension increases slightly without extreme tightness.
Retest at a slow walk
Plug the treadmill in and walk at a slow speed only. If light slip remains, unplug and add another equal 1/4 turn on both sides, without going much further.
You should see: Slipping stops at walking speed, or it remains and needs further inspection.
Check the drive system if slip continues
If modest tensioning fails, unplug the treadmill, remove the motor cover, and look for a loose drive belt or worn walking belt while the machine is off. Arrange belt replacement if wear is obvious.
You should see: You identify a drive-belt or walking-belt wear issue beyond simple tensioning.

Extra tips
What to look for: Belt hesitation or slip underfoot at walking speed on a ProForm 795
Before you change anything: Unplug the treadmill before adjusting rollers. Turn both rear bolts the same amount. Do not keep tightening if the belt edges fray or the motor strains. Keep children and pets away while testing.
