How do I re-tune a smart TV for satellite channels without using Wi‑Fi?
Answer
Satellite channel re-tuning is done in the TV’s broadcast or satellite tuning menu on the satellite/antenna input; Wi‑Fi is not required for a normal satellite channel scan.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- A factory reset removes apps and accounts and is usually unnecessary for a satellite re-tune.
Follow these steps
Select the satellite or tuner input
Using the TV remote, open Input or Source and choose the HDMI input for your satellite receiver, or the TV’s built-in Satellite / Antenna tuner if the dish feeds the TV directly.
You should see: The TV is on the correct source for satellite channels rather than a smart-app home screen.
Open channel tuning settings
Open Settings and look for Broadcasting, Channel, Tuning, or Installation. Choose Satellite if the menu asks for Air, Cable, or Satellite. Wi‑Fi can remain disconnected.
You should see: You reach an Auto tune, Auto program, or Satellite installation screen.
Run the automatic channel scan
Start Auto tune / Auto scan and let it finish without changing inputs. If the TV asks for satellite operator or LNB settings, keep the current values unless your installer gave different ones.
You should see: The scan completes and a channel list is built, or the TV reports that no channels were found.
Check a few channels and rescanning options
Browse several channel numbers. If many are blank, verify dish cables and whether a separate satellite box needs its own rescan menu instead of the TV’s tuner menu.
You should see: Channels play normally, or you know the problem is with the dish, box, or signal rather than Wi‑Fi.

Extra tips
What to look for: A Tuning, Channel setup, Auto tune, or Satellite installation menu, and whether missing channels show a blank screen or an on-screen error
Before you change anything: Confirm the satellite dish, LNB, and cables are connected to the TV or set-top box input you intend to use. Note your TV brand and whether channels come directly into the TV or through a separate satellite receiver box. Do not factory-reset the TV until a channel re-tune has been tried. Wi‑Fi can stay off for satellite tuning.
