How do I see the GPS coordinates of a photo?

Open the photo's information or Get Info panel — most photo apps show the map there and reveal the numeric coordinates when you expand it or hover over the map. If the app only ever shows a map, the coordinates are still in the file and any EXIF viewer will read them out.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Some apps remove location data when exporting or sharing, so a copy may not contain what the original does.
Follow these steps
Open the photo's information panel
Select the photo and open Get Info, Info, or the details sidebar.
You should see: A panel appears showing camera details and a small map.
Expand the map section
Click the disclosure arrow beside the map, or hover over it. Many apps reveal the coordinates only when expanded.
You should see: Latitude and longitude appear as numbers.
Use an EXIF viewer if not shown
If the app never shows numbers, open the file in any EXIF metadata viewer, which lists the GPS fields directly.
You should see: The coordinates are listed in full.
Copy them somewhere useful
Paste the pair into a mapping service to confirm they point where you expect.
You should see: The map matches the photo's location.
