How do I fix Pandigital photo frame pictures that show in the wrong orientation?

Answer

Rotate and re-save portrait photos as new JPEGs on a computer so the image file itself is upright, copy them back to the frame, and restart the frame. On-frame ROTATE usually fixes only one photo at a time.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Editing without a backup can overwrite originals you wanted to keep.

Follow these steps

  1. Back up the photos

    Copy all images from the frame or SD card to a folder on your computer before changing anything.

    You should see: A complete backup exists.

  2. Rotate portrait shots on the computer

    Open each portrait photo in Photos/Paint or another editor, rotate it to the correct upright orientation, and use Save As to create a fresh JPEG copy.

    You should see: New JPEG files are stored already upright.

  3. Replace the files on the frame

    Copy the new upright JPEGs back to the frame/SD card, replacing or removing the sideways versions to avoid duplicates.

    You should see: The frame storage holds the corrected files.

  4. Restart so the frame rescans

    Eject the card/cable safely, put storage back in the frame, and restart the Pandigital so it rescans the drive.

    You should see: Portrait images display upright in the slideshow.

  5. Use on-frame ROTATE only for one-offs

    If a single photo is still wrong, open it full screen on the frame and use ROTATE. Repeat per photo only when you are not batch-fixing on a computer.

    You should see: Individual remaining photos are corrected.
