Where are the HDMI ports on a 55-inch TCL TV?

Answer

On many 55-inch TCL models, the HDMI ports are on the back or side of the panel, often labeled HDMI 1 through HDMI 4, with one port marked ARC or eARC. Use a flashlight and check both edges before assuming ports are missing.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Support the TV safely if you tip it forward to see the rear ports; avoid lifting by the screen panel alone.

Follow these steps

  1. Check the back and side for labeled HDMI ports

Look along the left or right rear edge and the center back panel of the TCL for a row of HDMI jacks. Use a flashlight if needed and read the printed labels next to each port.

You should see: You find several HDMI ports, often numbered, including one marked ARC or eARC.

  2. Identify the ARC/eARC port

Find the HDMI port specifically labeled ARC or eARC. That port is intended for a sound bar or AV receiver that supports TV audio return.

You should see: You can tell which port is reserved for ARC audio versus general HDMI devices.

  3. Move the Roku off ARC if needed

If a Roku stick or box is plugged into the ARC/eARC port, unplug it and connect it to a different HDMI port such as HDMI 1, 2, or 3.

You should see: The Roku is on a standard HDMI input, and ARC/eARC is free for a sound bar if you use one.

  4. Select the matching HDMI input on the TV

Use the TV remote Input or Source button and choose the HDMI number that matches the port you used.

You should see: The connected device picture appears on the TCL screen.

Extra tips

What to look for: Printed labels near the ports such as HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3, HDMI 4, ARC, or eARC on the back or side of the TV

Before you change anything: Unplug power from the TV and connected devices before firmly reseating cables if you need to reach around the back. Note which device is on which HDMI port before you move anything. Confirm the exact TCL model on the sticker on the back or in Settings if available. Do not force a cable into a port that does not match the HDMI shape.
