Why does a Moen smart faucet say the Wi-Fi password is incorrect?
Answer
Smart faucets often fail setup when the router uses a combined or 5 GHz-only network, or when the control box needs a reset before rejoining. Resetting the box, restarting the router, and using the Moen Smart Water app reconnect flow usually fixes it.
Follow these steps
Reset the control box
Use a paperclip on the control box reset button only until you hear two beeps, then stop.
You should see: The control box is ready for a fresh pairing session.
Restart the router and stand nearby
Restart the router or modem, wait until Wi-Fi is back, and keep the phone and faucet control box close to the router for setup.
You should see: A strong local Wi-Fi signal is available for onboarding.
Reconnect in the Moen Smart Water app
Open the Moen Smart Water app, choose the reconnect or setup flow, and enter the Wi-Fi password carefully, preferring 2.4 GHz if bands are separate.
You should see: The faucet joins Wi-Fi without an incorrect-password error.
Power-cycle the control box and retry
If it still fails, unplug the faucet control box for 10 seconds, plug it back in, then use Devices > Reconnect in the app immediately.
You should see: The device completes setup and shows as online.

Extra tips
What to look for: Incorrect password during faucet setup in the Moen Smart Water app while phones join the same Wi-Fi fine
Before you change anything: Confirm the Wi-Fi password on a working phone. Prefer a 2.4 GHz network if the router splits bands. Stay near the router during setup. Reset only until the documented beep pattern; do not hold longer than instructed.
