Why does Gmail show too many drop-down suggestions and say the account is almost full?

Those drop-downs are search history and suggestion chips, which get worse when a Google account is near storage limits. Free space in Google Account storage (Gmail, Drive, Photos), then clear Gmail search history or app cache so the suggestion list shrinks.

Follow these steps
Check Google storage breakdown
Open Google Account → Storage (or the storage meter in the Gmail/Drive app) and see whether Gmail, Drive, or Photos is using the most space.

Free space
Empty Spam and Trash in Gmail, delete huge attachments/old mail, and remove unneeded Photos backup items until storage drops below the limit.

Clear Gmail search suggestions
In the Gmail app, clear search history from the search field controls where available, or clear the Gmail app cache in Android app settings.

Sync and retest
