Why doesn’t a phone work after adding Canada or Mexico extended coverage?
Answer
New international or extended coverage plans can take time to provision, and the phone may also need a network reset or roaming setting change before service returns.
Follow these steps
Confirm the add-on is active
Sign in to the official carrier account and verify the extended coverage plan is listed as active on the correct phone line.
You should see: The plan shows active, or a pending provisioning status is visible.
Refresh cellular connection
Turn Airplane mode on for 30 seconds, turn it off, and restart the phone.
You should see: Signal returns and basic calls or data work again.
Check roaming and cellular data settings
On iPhone, open Settings > Cellular and confirm the line is on, cellular data is enabled, and roaming options required by the carrier are enabled.
You should see: Required cellular switches are on for the active plan.
Contact the carrier if provisioning is stuck
If the account shows active but the phone still has no service after a couple of hours, ask the carrier to refresh the line provisioning for the extended coverage plan.
You should see: Carrier support completes a network refresh or corrects the plan attachment.

Extra tips
What to look for: No calls, texts, or data right after a coverage add-on, with possible carrier messages about provisioning or roaming
Before you change anything: Check the carrier account to confirm the extended coverage add-on shows as active. Note whether the phone has any signal bars at all. Keep Wi-Fi available for account chat or support apps. Avoid paying third parties to “unlock international service.”
