Why won’t a Kodak EasyShare C180 camera turn on?

Most C180 no-power problems are caused by weak AA batteries, reversed polarity, or dirty battery contacts rather than a failed camera.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not short battery contacts with metal tools while cleaning.
Follow these steps
Install two fresh AA batteries
Use two new AA lithium or fully charged NiMH batteries rather than old alkaline cells that may be too weak.
You should see: Known-good batteries are ready to install.
Match the polarity markings
Open the battery door and align each battery with the + and − symbols stamped inside the compartment.
You should see: Both batteries sit correctly and the door closes without force.
Reseat the batteries and power on
Remove and reinsert both batteries, then try the power switch again.
You should see: The camera powers on, or still stays dark for contact cleaning.
Clean the battery contacts
If there is white residue or corrosion, wipe the contacts gently with a clean dry cloth or a lightly isopropyl-dampened swab, let them dry, and reinstall batteries.
You should see: The camera turns on after contact cleaning.
Power-drain reset
Remove both AA batteries for one minute, then reinstall them and try power again.
You should see: The camera starts, or hardware service is likely needed if it still does nothing.

What to look for: No power response when the switch is moved on, with no display and no lens movement
